When should I book a B&B?

Some of the more popular locations will book up months in advance, so leaving booking to the last minute is not a good idea, especially midsummer June to August. Book the B&B early to avoid disappointment.

Where on Skye should I book a B&B?

This is very much personal preference. As a guideline if you want a quiet holiday then choose a B&B that is in one of the quieter parts on the island such as: Ord, Sleat, Elgol or Staffin.
For those that would like to be a bit closer to shops, restaurants and pubs then choose somewhere near the larger villages such as: Portree, Uig, Broadford, Dunvegan or Kyleakin.

Are B&B's rated like a hotel?

Bed and Breakfast business owners can apply to have their business graded by the Scottish Tourist Board. This is a rating out of 5 stars. To get 5 Stars the business must be ‘exceptional’, if a business has a rating of 3 or more you can be sure it will be very comfortable. This rating is not compulsory; there are many great unrated businesses to choose from.

What’s in included with a typical bed & breakfast?

Most B&B’s offer a comfortable room with Breakfast in the Morning. Most establishments will have options for breakfast including the option of a cooked Scottish breakfast. Some businesses do offer other things, including other meals, to find out more have a good look over their private website before booking.

In a B & B will I have my own bathroom?

Most modern bed & breakfasts do have En-Suite rooms; some of the smaller establishments only have shared bathrooms. Check their private websites to find details of what is on offer. The room price normally reflects what will be included.

How long can I stay at my chosen bed & breakfast?

Most Bed & Breakfast owners will welcome any guest for as long as they wish to stay from one night to a couple of weeks. Do note that some of the more popular B&B’s may have a minimum stay, this is dependent on the individual business.

Will the B&B have internet access?

90% of the businesses do offer access to the internet.

How much is it likely to cost to stay in a B&B?

This depends on the location, the rating of the Business and the reputation of the business. Typically B&B's will range from £30-£180 per night.

What bed & breakfast establishments offer disabled access?

Many businesses offering Bed & Breakfast are converted homes, so as standard most do not offer this. There are a good few that do, simply check the business listing for details.
